Don Hanson III |
Very large Hanson bowie, the forged damascus blade is 350 layers of 1080 and 15N20, the pattern transitions from a loose random near the spine, into a tight ladder to the edge, when the light hits the blade, it just shimmers. The guard and ferrule are complex Hanson mosaic damascus, the handle is an artifact walrus ivory hand axe that was altered only slightly to shape. You can still see the "scars" left by the ancient human who made and used it. A bowie of gigantic and historic proportions! |

Amazing full size bowie featuring a forged, 500 layer, damascus blade of 1080 and 15N20, the pattern is very fine and tight, and exhibits significant chatoyancy, the guard and ferrule are 2 different Hanson mosaics, the handle is ultra-rare, deep, navy blue bark mammoth ivory, a very striking bowie I affectionately call: "Big Blue".. |

Large bowie with premium stag handle, the guard is a very intricate twist pattern damascus, the blade is made from a modified 1086M carbon steel created by famed Mastersmith Haward Clark, the temper line, or Hamon is extremely artistic and abstract, and somewhat reminiscent of something you might see from Mastersmith Don Fogg, just an incredible large stag bowie, beautifully tempered, meant for serious business. |

This was Don's first 13" blade bowie, and it's not easy to get such a large bowie to look this good. The long, sleek damascus blade is 1300 layers of W2, 1080, 1060 and 1020, and has a very organic quality to it, it was then differentially tempered to reveal an almost otherwordly Hamon, which has a dark line and a frosty white line below it, the guard is a complex, twist pattern, the handle is premium, very impressive fossil bark ivory with creamy tan, and some vivid grass green. A very sleek, beautiful, and large Hanson bowie. |

One of Don's trademark forged fighters, sleek 5" blade of a modified carbon steel, which was etched to show both a distinct temper line and the "Wootz" like grain structure, trademark Hanson mosaic bolsters, and some of the nicest Sambar stag you'll ever see, what an impressive knife! |

When Don finished this folder, he felt in some ways, it was one of the nicest folders he had made to date. Amazing, long dagger blade of forged W1, flawelssly satin finished, with a vivid double Hamon that has that "dripping" quality that is so appealing and desirable. The bolsters are a pattern that is oriented to "point" and flow in in the direction of the blade, the handle is the nicest, navy blue walrus ivory imaginable, finished to a liquid-like luster, with some deep brown sections mixed into the blue, gold colored screws and a solid 18K gold thumb stud, the knife operates with a smoothness and precision rarely found. |

Another gem from Don. The blade is forged W1 with a semi-double Hamon, bolsters are very complex mosaic damascus, and the handle is creamy fossil walrus ivory which has a few small areas of pink! Smooth, precise, a gem. |
